Materials Decor & Construction

At Peats Ridge we use as many recycled materials as possible in our decor, construction and infrastructure.

We currently reuse a large portion of materials used by the National Institute for Dramatic Art for example. This reduces their total waste to land fill and gives us valuable decorations so it's a big environmental tick for everyone.

It really comes down to creativity, resources in terms of time, people and storage, along with a commitment to re-using materials or sourcing recycled materials.

Here are some ways we reuse and recycle materials:

  • Many organisations throw away a large amount of decorative material post the completion of an event. Team up with other organizations to examine reuse.
  • Re-use floor sheeting for signage
  • Use reclaimed fabric and material for decor
  • Second hand couches for chill areas
  • Reclaimed carpet for tent flooring
  • Use of unusual items for sculptures and installation art.
  • Take advantage of the Freecycle Network in your area.

TOP TIPS

  • Make friends with tradesmen so you can get freebie leftovers on paint and other materials.
  • Access a tip shop or manufacturing excess recycler.
  • Join forces with events in your region at different times to share resources. To discuss this further Contact Nic Moodie at the Peats Ridge office
