WATER MANAGEMENT
Water is Australia’s most precious resource and at this years Festival we will use best practice management processes to deliver the Festival fresh locally sourced water.
Safety and hygiene are paramount to any decisions the Festival makes but sustainability is always our focus.
Sustainable water management for the Festival is based on the following initiatives:
- Natural cleaning products will be used by food outlets for cleaning
- Natural cleaning products & disinfectants will be used for toilet cleaning
- Low flow showerheads
GREY WATER TREATMENT
Due to our commitment to water conservation, Peats Ridge is working with in consultation with our local council to treat all grey water generated by the festival onsite.
After appropriate treatment the grey water generated by the festival is reused to irrigate the festival site. Helping the area to recover from the impacts of the years activities.
Grey Water treatment is accomplished without the use of chemicals or energy intensive treatment systems through a newly developed Rafted Reed Bed System and aeration. This is the same way a natural wetland cleanses nutrient rich waters before they enter natural river systems.
TOP TIPS

- Use low-flow showers.
- Use composting toilets or low flush conventional systems.
- Use products that are low in salts and phosphates.
- Speak to your suppliers about grey water reuse for toilet flushes.
- Water free urinals.
