In line with our sustainable living ethic, Peats Ridge encourages sustainable agricultural practices and we promote and encourage consumption of organic food. 

In order to do this we have put several things in place:

  • Have a dedicated Organic Food Co-ordinator who's role is to assist food stalls in changing over to organic ingredients. 
  • We require all coffee stalls to use organic and fair trade coffee.
  • Stall holders are encouraged to contact our stalls manager at stalls@peatsridgefestival.com.au to ask for advice, supplier contacts, and general support in the conversion to becoming organic.

 

We are currently working on a plan to be 100% organic with all food on site by 2012.

  • Fair: 40c in every dollar goes back to the farmer
  • Organic: 100% of the produce is certified organic or chemical free
  • Local: average food miles of around 200km

It is a Peats Ridge aim to work further with suppliers over the following years to build a strong relationship with the local farming community by growing the Festival's vast majority of fresh produce needed, including supporting all food stalls with their needs.

It is our wish for you to come eat food that is fresh, tasty and in season that also supports our farmers.

EDEN is our festival run ORGANIC outlet,  open 7:30am-10pm, caring for our festivalgoers, providing healthy nourishment and everyday essentials to help make your stay a pleasant, supported and relaxed one. The name says it all... a garden of EDEN , a sanctuary of great food , drink and environmentally conscious products. EDEN ... where Every Day Every Need is met .. ORGANICALLY.

Our Organic coordinator will Liase / partnership with suppliers to assist stall holders and ensure delivery / supply is effortless for stall holders and encouraging bulk purchases enables price reductions.

ORGANIC INCENTIVE PLAN

We have an incentive plan in place to encourage our food vendors to become 100% organic. This includes a $500 rebate on their stall fees when presenting $2000 worth of certified organic receipts, also 100% guaranteed organic food vendors have the added bonus of being featured on both our website and Festival program

BUYING LOCALLY

We have identified local organic growers, and have ensured their produce is used at our festival in two ways. Firstly is contacting them and finding out who wholesales their produce. Secondly is by establishing personal contact with these growers, we are able to find out what they will be growing when our festival is on, and line up some direct purchases between stallholders and the farms.
