BRYNSTAR

Brynstar's roots are in his love of original funk, soul and disco. He started playing professionally in 1994 (Wellington, NZ), co-hosting a radio show called Heavy Traffick that indulged in a wild, old skool party vibe, was then caressed by deep house music, moved to Sydney in 1997, and has since savoured residencies and guest spots at all the glam hotspots from Civic Theatre to Opera Bar, Hugo's Lounge to Ivy PoolClub. He still digs deep from earth's funkentelechy and grooves with abandon amidst the cosmic disco debris.

"The essence of DJing is track selection; becoming truly savvy about the genres and styles of music that you love, knowing instinctively which track will compliment the previous. Smooth beat-mixing/segueing is the essential backbone, but allowing a charisma to shine through, and adding rhythmic finesse to your set makes it an audio art form, which in turn seduces your audience."
